Medicine Information

About Walformin Tablet:

Walformin tablet is a combination of two anti-diabetic medications, used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Each uncoated Walformin tablet contains Gliclazide 80 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg.

Gliclazide is an antidiabetic sulphonylurea. It increases insulin sensitivity at peripheral target sites by stimulating insulin release from the pancreatic ß-cells. It also reduces insulin uptake and glucose output of the liver.

Metformin is a biguanide antihyperglycemic agent which improves glucose tolerance by lowering both basal and postprandial plasma glucose. It decreases hepatic glucose production, delays intestinal glucose absorption, and improves insulin sensitivity by enhancing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
