Medicine Information

About Atorsave 20 mg Tablet:

Atorsave 20 mg tablet is a statin group of medication, used to treat dyslipidaemias. Each film coated Atorsave 20 mg tablet contains Atorvastatin calcium equivalent to Atorvastatin 20 mg.

Atorvastatin is a statin medication and a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme HMG-CoA (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A) reductase, which catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, an early rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis. The inhibition of mevalonate production results to a compensatory increase in the expression of LDL receptors and stimulation of LDL catabolism, consequently lowering LDL-cholesterol levels.

Atorsave 20 mg tablet is prescribed for the treatment of several types of dyslipidaemias, including primary hyperlipidaemia, mixed dyslipidaemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia in patients with failed dietary modifications.
