Medicine Information

About Amlovas M 5/25 mg Tablet:

Each uncoated bi-layered Amlovas M 5/25 mg tablet contains Amlodipine Besilate equivalent to Amlodipine 5 mg and Metoprolol Succinate 23.75 mg equivalent to Metoprolol Tartrate 25 mg (As Extended- Release form).

Amlodipine belongs to the group of medicine called calcium channel blocker, are a common class of medication used to treat high blood pressure and heart arrhythmias. Calcium channel blocker works by reducing the amount of calcium that flows into the heart muscle cells and cell walls of the arteries. This cause relaxation of the blood vessels, so blood can flow more easily and result in a lower blood pressure.

Metoprolol is a selective beta-1 (cardio-selective) adrenergic receptor blocking agent that blocks the effects of adrenaline on body’s beta receptors, thereby slowing nerve impulses that travel through the heart. In that way, Metoprolol relaxes blood vessels and slows heart rate in order to improve blood flow and lower blood pressure.
