Alprax 1
mg tablet belongs to a class of medication called benzodiazepines, used to treat anxiety.
Each uncoated Alprax 1 mg tablet contains Alprazolam 1 mg.
Alprazolam is a triazolobenzodiazepine, acts on benzodiazepine receptors BNZ-1 and BNZ-2. The action of alprazolam on BNZ-1 mediates the sedation and anti-anxiety effects, while the action on BNZ-2 mediates the effect on memory, coordination, muscle relaxation, and anticonvulsive activity.
Alprazolam also couple with GABA-A receptors to enhance GABA binding to its receptor. This interaction mediates inhibition of the nervous system and results in a calming effect.
Use of Alprax 1 mg Tablet:
Alprax 1 mg tablet is prescribed for the treatment of severe anxiety or severe anxiety associated with depression. Due to its dependency or habit-forming nature, usually it is used for a short-term mode of treatment.
Alprax 1
mg tablet is also used for the treatment of Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.
Usage direction of Alprax 1 mg Tablet:
- Alprax 1 mg tablet should be taken orally.
- Alprax 1 mg tablet should be swallowed whole.
- Alprax 1 mg tablet should not be split, crushed or chewed before swallowing.
Precaution & Related information of Alprax 1 mg Tablet:
Precaution should be taken & consult with the physician during following conditions-
- It is dangerous to take this preparation except in accordance with the medical advice.
- Hypersensitive or allergic to alprazolam or other similar benzodiazepine medicines, or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- Suffer from a disease called ‘myasthenia gravis’ where you suffer from very weak and tired muscles.
- Severe chest problems or breathing difficulties (e.g. chronic bronchitis or emphysema).
- Sleep apnoea’ - this is a condition where your breathing becomes irregular, even stopping for short periods, while you are asleep.
- Severe liver problems.
- Inform & consult with physician during taking with other medications.
- Consult with the physician during pregnancy & lactation.
- Keep all medicines out of reach of children.

Consult with the physician before taking Alprax 1 mg tablet if have the following symptoms:
- Depression & suicidal thoughts
- Mental illness that required hospital treatment
- Problems with lungs, kidneys or liver
- Abused drugs or alcohol in the past or find it difficult to stop taking medicines, drinking or taking drugs
- Prescribed medicines for severe anxiety before
- In elderly, due to the risk of sedation and / or musculoskeletal weakness that can promote falls, often with serious consequences in this population
